Financial Economist - Senior Researcher
We are looking for an experienced Financial Economist to generate and research new Financial and Securities Litigation case ideas, producing internal and external research reports for the team.

About this Role
We are looking for a professional with a background in economics or finance to join our highly collaborative team of Financial Economists.
This role will be responsible for Fideres’s qualitative and quantitative research into highly complex corporate financial wrongdoing and financial markets manipulations. Our ideal candidate will enjoy researching new ideas, conducting detailed and robust financial analysis on those ideas, and writing internal and external research reports.
Key Responsibilities
The Financial Economist - Senior Researcher will focus on generating and researching new case ideas, along with writing research reports for the financial litigation team.
Some notable responsibilities include:
- Research the news and keep on top of market developments to generate new case ideas
- Conduct detailed qualitative and quantitative financial analysis on new case ideas and existing projects as part of the delivery of Fideres’ expert consulting mandates, proactively anticipate quality control issues
- Writing comprehensive reports that summarize the key findings of our analysis in a simple, succinct manner
- Verbally presenting key findings to clients in a manner that allows them to understand both the results and how they impact their own clients
- Communicating with clients and stakeholders in a timely, clear and concise manner
- Schedule client events (seminar, attendance to conference, etc) to raise the profile of the firm
- Coming up with new and improved solutions to problems and projects, along with ways to strengthen the quality of our analysis
Key Skills and Attributes
The successful candidate will have:
- A solid understanding of financial markets and a strong belief in fair and transparent markets
- Proven relevant experience in a sector regulator, at a ratings agency, or in a consulting/financial services environment
- Strong research report writing skills and experience of explaining complex topics in simple terms
- Strong communication skills. Experience of dealing directly with clients
- A strong record of academic achievement with a relevant degree(s) in economics, financial economics, or financial journalism
- Shows persistence in using different approaches and methodologies to explore and evaluate new case ideas
- Strong project organisational skills, able to meet deadlines
- Integrity, and a creative, curious mind
- A high level of accountability, and not afraid to express and opinion and offer new solutions

The main purpose of our interviews is to further assess your technical skills, your communication skills (team and client) and make sure that you have sufficiently researched what we do and the role itself. More generally it is a chance for us to get to know each other better.
A typical interview process would look a bit like this:
